Sound Capture Types
Location is very important in sound recording service. Because according to the project (dialogue), the boom operator needs to know whether to record human voice or surround sound. Recorder settings and pattern should be adjusted according to the location and shooting should be done. By adjusting the shooting areas of the condenser microphones used, only the sounds in the focused area can be heard. If nature sounds are to be taken in a documentary project, the recorder settings are made in accordance with the concept. Pattern settings on the microphone are also adjusted according to the space. Surrounding sounds are quite intense, especially in exterior shooting dialogues and can suppress dialogue sounds. For this, our team offers a perfect recording opportunity by making the pattern settings appropriately and using special filters. Sound recording types differ according to the shooting location.

The term “polar pattern” originated because of the polar shape of sound waves coming into the microphone from different directions and describes the sensitivity of a microphone to sound depending on the direction or angle from which the sound comes from, or how well the microphone “hears” sound from different directions. More specifically, it describes how "sensitive" the microphone is to sounding waves coming from different directions. We can call this in Turkish as “microphone sensitivity” or “polar form of microphone”.
The polar shape of a microphone is an important consideration in understanding whether it is a right or wrong tool for the shooting environment. That's why it's important for makers to know what the different polar patterns are, how they work, and in what situations to use them.
There are 3 basic pole shapes in microphones used. These ; It is called omnidirectional (omnidirectional), figure-8 / Bidirectional (Figure-8 / bidirectional), cardioid (heart-shaped distribution). The pole shapes we are talking about are revealed by casting the sound measurements made on a circular data graph.
