Voice Over Terms

Voice Actor

Condenser Microphone

It is a type of microphone that produces a sound signal from vibration between two diaphragms and takes high performance for vocal recordings. Most of the voiceover and dubbing recordings are taken with these microphones.

Cardioid Microphone

Cardioid means heart-shaped, it represents the sound pickup pattern around the diaphragm of the microphone. The cardioid pattern microphone picks up sounds coming from a heart-shaped area in front of the diaphragm, deaf to the rest. It is used in radio broadcasting.

Dynamic Microphone

This microphone has a membrane attached to a coil wrapped around a magnet. The vibration of sound waves hitting the membrane moves the coil around the magnet. This is transmitted to the ends of the coil as an electrical signal. Dynamic microphones are shock resistant due to their construction.Microphones are often used at concerts.

Omnitronic Microphone

Pop Filter

Earphones
